Martin Kovarik
was born in 1971 in Novy Jicin in today’s Czech Republic. He early got
in contact with music as his father, Vladimir Kovarik, was a well known choir
leader. Not surprisingly, Martin had his first piano lessons at the age of
seven and started playing the organ with 15.
After his education at the Ostrava Conservatoire and at the Academies of Bratislava
and Zurich he took up private studies with Jean Guillou in Paris.
Since
then Martin Kovarik has performed in many European countries as well as in
Georgia (Tiflis) as organist and pianist and has been invited to international
music festivals e.g. the festival “Prestige de l’Orgue”
in St. Eustace church in Paris and in Piacenza).
He regularly joins chamber music formations either as pianist or organist.
Together with Jean Guillou he performed oeuvres for piano and organ, among
others Guillous world premiere of the “Colloque No 7” in Dortmund.
His repertoire encompasses classical oeuvres, transcriptions and contemporary
compositions.
Since 1997 he is working at the catholic parish of Baar (canton of Zug).
"It
is with great pleasure that I recommend Martin Kovarik who is a real artist.
He holds all technical know how to express with deep emotions all that is
important for him.
Martin Kovarik is, without a doubt, one of the most sensitive artists. This
is why I highly appreciate him and therefore often invited him to play my
compositions with me at concerts."
